Check out this bluegill that was caught in a Clark Co pond this past weekend...it's one of my co-workers family, so he brought the picture in today and I scanned it.
He said it was weighed on a certified scale and witnessed by the game warden, so it may be a new state record...I can't remember what he said it weighed...I want to say 3lb15oz, but don't quote me there. I didn't write it down. (And I think the state record is 4-something)
Record or not, it's a heck of a gill...

Oh yeah, and it hit a topwater plug...
That is an AMAZING FISH!! I would almost have been tempted to put that on the wall (if I wasn't so intent on eating it. Thanks for taking the time to share that with us.
Does it look like a Redear (shellcracker) to you guys?
That would make more sense to me on the State Record deal.
Is that one of those hybrids? That is awesome!![]()
That's the first thing I asked...whether it was a hybrid...and it wasn't.
That dude would be mounted and hanging on my wall!
Looks like a Shellcracker to me, just missing red on the edge of gill flap.

That's a hoss! That had to be a blast. Did you eat that?
Very nice! I'd like to get one of them on my flyrod, it'd probably take a half-hour to land.
Thanks for sharing that one.
