Vanish has built quite a reputation for extremely low knot strength and break offs. It is not a very good line. Braid has it's advantages at times, although I am not a big fan of it. Chunk rock will eat through it pretty quick. I would give a better flourocarbon a try. The trilene 100% is good, but I like the seaguar the best. I was about to give up on flouro, too, because of the vanish, it really is bad. You will be able to tell a difference in feel and sensitivity with flouro. I would start out using it for your bottom bouncing rigs - worms, jigs, rigs.
