    Fishin Good, Marina sucked

First time back to dale this year, was pan fishing. Got 6 nice gills, and 9 big shell crackers, fished almost 3 hours. I'm pretty sure I wont be going back to the state park. At present there are 7 parking spots with out concrete barriers. The rest are on the lot at the top of the hill. Now I imagine they want you to drop your trailer up there, and park your tow below. There are NO handicapped spots, not that I would use one, but it is still quite a hassle to fish there.Guess the owner needs all that space for his big paying customers. Well aint gonna happenn here. What next launch fees? I know it isn't christian, but I do hope he does poorly there.

Yep, launch fees are next! Ha ha ha!

I used to launch at a certain marina for years, then it became under new ownership...and guess what? A launch fee box popped up! Here's the funny part of it, on the sign it reads:

"$3.00 lauch fee is a credit towards a purchase in the marina store"

So after you launch your boat three times, you can go in their store and buy one coke! Ha ha ha! Guess it's their way for justifying their launch fee on a U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers made ramp...which I still think is BS!

I'm not that against launch fees if there are facilitys available. 5 bucks isn't going to kill me, but when you need to pay, and there is very little parking, I'll go someplace else.I paid 75 bucks to launch at griderhill, and on week days it isn't too bad, but forget week ends.I also got the annual pass for the corp ramps, and that is a bargain for me, being a senior citizen. But with the price of fuel going up, driving to save money on launch fees, well it working. The big draw back about cumberland is the long long walk up that steep ramp, my artritis almost kills me. Fished today at obey river corp ramp, walleyes were not cooperating. Most pleasure was watching the military bass fishermen zoom by. classic military operation, every one heading in different directions at high speed.

Hey Larry, where is the Obey River Corps ramp? Or what/where is the next best ramp on the KY side of Dale.? I am too old and fat to walk up that hill at State Dock.

    Thanks

We (Our Bass Club) put in at Sulphur Creek and the parking lot was level and one upper one, but the upper one was only about 10 feet higher than the bottom parking lot. Still cost anyone who does not have a COE Yearly Pass $ 5.00 to launch. But still the ramp was not to bad and some good fishing in Sulphur Creek from what my Bass Club members said....

Obey river ramp is in TN.As far as I know, trhere are not many ramps on cumberland that are user friendly for some of us older folks. That walk up holcumbs was as bad as camp hale.

Thanks Larry, from the name I kind of figured that was the case.
