FISH
I live close by, and wanted a place to fish weekdays after work. Kinda worried about taking my 1648 out on the river though
You enroll on this board and ask a vague question. Then you give a wize acre answer from a member's question who is trying to help you.
Good luck on any other responses from anybody else on this fine board.
Grow up and learn how to be polite.
Did not mean to hurt your feelings, just want a little info. Seems like everybody on this board is on there period anyway.
I know what you mean Panfish Man. I asked for an idea on a good spot to fish at Raccoon, and people acted like I was gonna go catch every fish in the lake and take them home. I only catch and release anyway, and was just looking for a tip or two. People gettin too defensive over nothing.
As long as your motor is dependable (starts every time) your boat will be fine. Just be smart about where you try to take it...stay out of the rough stuff. That being said, try to get next to some current and throw some type of blade blade (Silver Buddy style), in-line spinner, or other flashy lure for whites and saugers. Also try anchoring near current (again be careful) and put out cut bait for cats and stripes. Be prepared to get hung up and lose some tackle n matter what you do. Be courteous to other boats and try no to cut anyone off. Be prepared for someone to do it to you...it will happen, especially if you start catching fish.
I prefer to launch at the New Albany ramp because there is usuallly less current than the Clarksville ramp. The COE could open the upper gates at any time and make the Clarksville ramp dangerous. That being said, I have used it a lot when I have help with the launching//loading. Just be sure to keep an eye on the current. There are a couple big rocks on the downstream side of the ramp that will get your lower unit if you're not careful.
Just use a little common sense and all will be OK. Be aware that the fishing can be feast or famine, usually depending on the current. Don't give up if you have a bad trip.

Thanks
