Shafer?????????

I was in Monticello last Sat. and saw Shafer for the first time. It looks interesting, I thought about coming back with my boat and try it out. The lake is down at least 10-15ft, all boat docks were high and dry. The marina looking place by Indiana beach looked very unusable. Does anybody know why the water is so low? what happened to all that rain we had this spring, one would think the lake would be full. Where is the public ramp for this lake?

They had major flooding and had to lower both Shafer and Freeman to clean up debris. Should be about ready to bring it back up. Freeman should be fine now. Both lakes have tournaments almost every weekend this time of year, but the fishing is still good. Lots of nice smallmouth in Freeman. Shafer has no free ramp. Most tourneys launch from the Big Monon Bay ramp, 8 bucks I think. Freeman is accessable free from the river about a half mile north of Tall Timbers Marina. Good Luck
