Well, wound up not going to Barren last weekend, but want to go this weekend. Never been to the lake, what can I anticipate as far as shoreline cover and just basic description of the lake? I was told there are lots of bushes. Is this true?

Barren is one of my favorite lakes - I haven't been in several years. It has alot of brush, and a ton of stumps scattered along the shorelines - even the bare looking shorelines will have the scattered stumps. I need to make it back there.
Unless they've pulled a lot of water out of the lake, expect it to still be flooded and most of the spawning fish are inaccessible. find the bait fish jumping around and throw top water and crank baits into the schools and hang on. Could be a Bass or even a Hybrid busting the schools.
I know that they are still pulling the lake, its about a foot and a half over summer pool right now. The people I have spoke with have all reported that fishing is still tough for them. I did see a report were they are catching them out of the trash floating in the coves. really itchin to get down there myself but with gas prices so high ......would really like to catch good numbers and when you live 2 1/2 hrs away, well you get the picture.

As stated earlier, lots of brush, lots of stumps, quite a few rocks, a few weeds, lots of garbage and lots boats Sun. thru Fri. and lots and lots of boats on Saturdays. It really is an amazing lake to me. That much pressure and still productive.
Yeah, the 2.5 hour drive is a killer. And gas sure is not getting any cheaper.
