I went fishing up on Lake Burton today and I got the surprise of my life. I caught a Lake record bass. I was fishing a topwater plug around some rocks and this bass inhaled it. It started jumping and jumping some more trying to dislodge my plug. I finally get it to the boat and it's a Smallmouth bass; the first one I have ever caught. I took it up to the Lake Burton Hatchery and got the DNR to verify and weigh it. They said it was the first Smallmouth they had seen from Burton. They took pics and recorded the weight and measurement. They said it would be a new lake record. It weighed 2.74 lbs. After they verified it I released it back into the lake.
