My name is Ryan Queen. I am the current vice president of the IU Bass Fishing Club. Colleges simply mandate that each club sport has a faculty advisor if they want to be affiliated with the school. But as an advisor you can do as much or as little as you want with your club. Our first advisor was a prof. and he didnt even come to our meetings.
Our new advisor now is a fanatic and he comes to every meeting and even tries to fish all the tournaments he is allowed with us. The students usually take care of all the paperwork and business end of the collegiate clubs, you as an advisor just have to be there to affiliate the club officially with the university.
If you have any more questions about college fishing or getting another club started please feel free to contact me or our club president Jesse Schultz ([email protected]) and we will be happy to help you out. We love to see new college clubs get started up. Its great for college anglers and the overall sport. Indiana is huge into college fishing. Wabash, Ball State, IU, and Purdue all have clubs now and compete in at least 6 college tourneys a year.
Also check out the CBAA website www.collegiatebass.org. They are the sanctioning body of college fishing and you should really get in contact with them to get a new university club started. That is their main goal, getting new college clubs going. Try and send an email to Troy Heckaman, the president.
