I'd like to start fishing swim baits in hopes of producing bigger bass. What are some of your favorite swim baits, and where and in what situations do they produce best?
Thanks,
John

The "wild eye swim shad" in the pearl color by storm, proved itself well at cumberland this year in late winter on stripers. Catching fish up in the creeks in 20-30ft. of water or less. They also put largemouth, smallmouth, & spots in the boat as well.
I am about to order some of the Mattslures swimbaits. I'll let you know what happens when I get to use them.
basstrix - limited avail but still best finish on the market!
shadalicious or berkely swim bait - closest to basstrix as far as action but more durable
california swim babes - baby e (big bait = BIG FISH)
huddleston deluxe shad - more of a finesse presentation but still catches "bigguns"
when to use -> i have not yet found a time NOT to use. we have been slaying fish on them for the last month!
caught fish last summer middle of day in dead heat on them
definitely nailed some bruisers early fall also
not so much a winter bait but i guess what i am saying is that they catch fish nearly all the time (most all pix from last fall are swimbait fish - see photo board)
especially useful for clear water lakes with open foraging gamefish
i prefer to rig with jighead for open water and on weighted EWG hook for shoreline/cover applications.
hope this helps. good luck. USE IT and you will not be disappointed.
The Sebile Magic Swimmer looks awesome..I bought one of them and used it last thursday, and have since baught 3 more of them. Alot of the Elite series guys used them this past week at Clarks Hill...Only place that has them around London is Sadlebrook.
Are you guys swimming them just under the surface or you letting them get down a little deeper?basstrix - limited avail but still best finish on the market!

I just received my lures from www.mattlures.com. These things are awesome. If I was a big fat bass I'd eat 'em. I hope to try them out this weekend. I'll report back to ya and let you know if the fish and I have the same taste or not.
Ive just starting using them in the last month and man they are awesome.I use the berkleys and money minnows and have caught fish and big fish everywhere...i have been catching fish alot around wood and brush...havent been able to use em in open water yet,but ive found the best time is when the bass are guarding fry,man they will nail it
How do you rig them? I just bought some 5" baits and not sure how you rig them, and what size hook, any weight? First timer.
