I ran into the same at Barren on Friday around the 31E bridge. I did manage to catch 5 LM out of 6 strikes on top water. I had a blast.

I fished Barren on saturday and I saw something...odd. Usually on Barren if you locate a large group of baitfish then you will undoubtabally hit the hybrids. Well, this weekend we saw numerous schools of baitfish hitting the surface but there were absoultely no big fish around them. The baitfish were up and down the bank around the dam and Bailey's Point. Any ideas?

I think it was EHD! Lol, just kidding, but after this past deer season it stuck in my head.
My guess woud be it was weather related. Not sure, because I am not a biologist, but I have noticed that many of the places I have fished for a long time, things have been different. The weird weather we have been having for the last year or so could have changed some things. Drought all summer and then rain...and more rain and....well you get the idea. My question would be how the hybrids fared following the massive drought and high temps. of last summer.
maybe its where they set the clocks up earlier this year...........hahahahahahaha sorry that one still cracks me up
All of the fish I saw were close to the bank and the 4 I caught were in shallow water. These baitfish were in the middle of the lake suspended in 30-50 ft of water, no large fish seen or charted on a depthfinder.
