Don't feel bad about not catching any bigger than 5 for my biggest is 6-1 and that was just caught last Monday. I have fished both lakes for 3 years both shallow in the spring and deep ledges and humps in the summer plus night fished Ky to nothing over 6 until that one fish and then it took "The Champ" to put me on that fish. Some people just catch bigger fish than others. I have caught more than my share of Smallies over 5 plus 3 of them over 6, grant it, I fish for them more than Greenfish, but thought I would at least have caught a couple more over 6 by now. Had my chances at them for I know of 3 different fish that I had hooked in the buck brush that were over 7 but always managed to get off or break off, plus one HUGE monster that blew up on my buzzbait on North Barkley 2 years ago and knocked it 3 feet in the air and all I got was the memory of seeing this beast come half way out of the water and catch air. Keep chunkin where the bigguns live and it will happen. I know skill plays a large part in it but just like other forms of life LUCK plays a part as well.
