I have a new boat this year, its a 190vs Ranger Reata with a 200 Optimax. It has a 5 bladed prop, 25 pitch. Top speed so far has been about 53 mph, I was told from the dealer that was about all I would get. If I switched to a 3 or 4 blade how much extrs speed dod you think I would get? Even with the 5 blades it does not get out of the water and the nose down like I think it should. Its trimmed all the way down when I take off, I know a jackplate would help but thats an expense I don't want right now.
what wot rpm are you running with the 5 blade?i'd opt for a trophy or a tempest with the pvs plugs it will help hole shot.look to see if the pin is in the transom bracket to keep it from tucking under all the way.you should be able to get high 50's low 60's,the 5 blade prop is made for skiiing and tubing it don't have jerk neck holeshot or topend so you don't pull your skiers feet off..try a 24" and you may even want to raise the motor on the transom even if you don't use a jackplate, every hole you can go up will add 100-150 rpm..don't go less than 15lb water at wot.main thing will be getting rid of the high 5..
