In Defense of "Big Oil"

I still say, as long as Americans, and especially our politicians, keep "scapegoating" Big Oil the problem will never get solved and we will keep paying higher and higher gas prices..

I agree if we continue to pay the high prices then they will be happy to supply the fuel. The one thing that I can't get my thoughts around is that we are at record fuel consumption? I know that my circle of friends and business associates have cut fuel consumption daily. It's actually substantial with how many people use their smaller cars for their little trips with the people I know. The amount of fisherman/outdoorsman who have limited their trips has raised as well.
My thought is if alot more people have experienced the same thing with friends and families at what point does the statement of record fuel consumption not hold water? Heck, the line at the fuel pumps has gone down in the mornings at the few pumps I stop at and most of the patrons are business vehicles. That's another indication of less fuel, granted some of that is because the residential housing market has slowed so they don't need 30 plumbing trucks on the site not to mention all the other trades.
The Democrats always want to go after big business like their some kind of giant killer.......

Yesterday's excuse from top Oil thieves, was the China earthquake, aaaaaaaaaaa Whaaaat, how the Hell does that affect oil futures??? Gas hit 3.99 here in town, when this country shuts down somebody will have to do something. I agree with Don everybody I know has cut waaay back. They took a vote yesterday to start dipping into our home reserves, all but three people voted to go for it. Two senators and George Bush didn't like the idea.... huh, I'm so confused. I'm no mental heavy weight boys but this country is heading for a major recession and it won't get solved quickly. And with the three stooges running for office boy don't we have alot to look forward to, lol, it's a JOKE.

Mark, I am retired, retired and retarded I am not a share holder and am in no way connected with oil, the stock market or any of the other stuff but I have to pay the same high price for gas as everyone else. I just believe that the prices won't come down until we do something about the actual problem--the tree huggers and the enviromentalest that are preventing us from drilling for and refining oil/gas that is here within the Unted States bounries.

Unfortunately, the politicians and most American people would rather scapegoat the big oil companies than take on the enviromentalis.

I just typed in California gas prices and found that within the last 48 hours gas was as high as 4.59 per gallon! Looks like it's more inline with us now (maybe cheaper?) but man can you imagine filling up with 25 gallons? Over $100 to fill up! That's sad.....

Do you have any idea how much oil we have in the ground within the Continental USA?

Oil Companies won't tell you as it's a big Secret. Just like **** Cheney's Energy Meetings were.

But if you can't see the light about what's going on nothing will help you.

Ask yourself this one question.

Does you pay check buy you as much today as it did 10 years ago?

Bush/Cheney has brought us this misfortune and it will only get worse not better.

We don't have that much oil left. What we have is hard and expensive to recover and we are using more and more oil ever year.

The reason we have high oil prices are many but the main reason is that we are running out of oil in the world and the world is using more and more oil.

This myth that we are not building oil refineries is just that. We have a refinery right here in IN that's expanded it's operations and will be producing more gas really soon.

But ask yourself why anyone would build a new refinery and increase the supply when they can keep the supply down and the demand up and make more profit? If they build 100 new refineries and start producing 100 times more gas the price would drop down and they would lose money. Now what good business man is going to do that? NONE! These boys are not stupid. And beside they can use the Big Corporation Controlled new media and blame in on other folks. So far they have been getting away with this for the last 7+ years.

I for one will be glad when Bush is out and a dem is in the While House. But we will need to get 60 dems in the US Senate to get this country back on track for the vast Majority of the American People.

If you are better off today than you were ten years ago thank your lucky stars because you are in the MINORITY.

Natural Gas prices are being jacked up 30% this coming winter. Be ready to pay more to stay warm this winter.

Scapegoating Big Oil????? What?????? They are the ones turing a profit, they are the majority of this problem. Our government's mismanagement of resources and funds also have to take some blame in this as well. But defending the oil companies make little to no sense to me - they are making record proffits, while the rest of the country eases into a moderate recession. I guess a crack dealer is not part of the drug problem???
