Doggone it Moose I like you and the way you think, if there's something we can do I'm ready to stand right by ya brother. I'm old and fat but I can still cause a Ruckess. You just fired me up with that post, Whhhhooooooo Yaaaaaaaa.Did anyone know that the ship yard workers stopped work (loading and unloading ships at ports on the West Coast) for a day? There are union guys... longshoremen and you don't mess with these guys.
One way to stop the goods from overseas coming into our country it the shut down the ports.
China can't get their goods to Walmart if they can't offload them on our docks.
And if the working men were to all get together we could shut this country down until the leaders get off their hind ends and pass legislation that will put us at WAR with OPEC. We need to get OPEC neck in our grip and squeeze them hard. After all they are have us by the balls and are squeezing us more every day.
It's time to fight back before it's too lake.
This country and the vast majority of the people are not going to survive with this high gas prices.
It's time to get off our asses and do something. Anything is better than nothing or not even trying.
The America public reminds me of that fat guy in the movie Deliverance. He just pulled his pants down and bent over. Well I am not content to give him to hillbillies or the **** Arabs without a fight.
High Gas prices will keep a lot more people home this summer. Less fishing trips and less participants at Fishing Tournaments. People can't afford to fill up those Big SUV an pull those big rigs though the mountains and valleys at these prices.
Elwood............where's the 10 year supply of OIL stored at........In holding tanks???I too believe that Big Box retailers in all aspects of our society have changed America now and forever. I would like to say that I only shop and buy "American" but can't and most likely never will. With all the Big Box retailers buying power, Wal-Mart / Bass Pro Shops etc., their prices are so much cheaper across the board that it is about the only way a "Family" can survive these days. Throw in gas at $4 per gallon and it only adds to the crunch and make even more people go to the "Big Boxes" for our supplies. These retailers continue to drive the "Ma and Pa" stores out of business and will continue to do so until they are all that is left. I read a scenario on that topic and a suggestion was for example "Wal Mart or BPS" after so many years of their dominance and buying power puts all, "99% of their competition, out of business. Then they get GREEDY and raise their prices to start making even more dollars in profit to satisfy their thirst. We will have no choice to pay for there will not be any other options. At that time we will have wished that we could have done something to keep more "Ma and Pa's" in business. First to admit that if my money can be spent to keep the local economy then that is what is done, BUT push come to shove and if it involves saving some of that same money in order to survive, then Big Box I go. When the government let Exxon and Mobil merge a few years ago, that was a HUGE mistake for you now had the 2 leading Gas companies in the world in partnership. There are laws in place that are supposed to eliminate such mergers to keep "Competition" and "Competitors" so we the consumer have choices and also so price gouging and such things don't take place. How many "Oil Companies" are there? All I hear about is Exxon/Mobil (theres a merger that the government never should have allowed) and a couple more. I think the few leaders of these oil companies call each other in the morning and depending on their mood for the day is what we get. 10 year supply of crude in holding tanks NOW and we are all getting stuck with $4 gas. I hear of Trucking companies, big and small, calling for a 1 day boycott of purchasing diesel. That will NEVER work for they will all fill up the day before and the day after. What would work would be for a 1 day boycott of them MOVING THEIR TRUCKS would be better. Not only would the diesel fuel pipeline back up for none being consumed but all the material they are moving would come to a stop as well. Add a 1 day boycott of any vehicle moving and see how much crude backs up in the pipeline. I am in for the 1 day boycott but getting everyone to do it is another story. When it comes down to it and I have said it before "It is my wife, my 3 kids and myself and to hell with the rest". Sounds cruel but when you stop and think about it if it comes down to push and shove, then we will all do what it takes for our family to survive and that is that. My rant it over now.
We burn through about 12 million barrels a day..........
With our 700 million barrels in the strategic reserve, that is about 2 months of oil.
AT 12 million barrels a day your 10 year estimate in holding tanks come up to 43,800,000,000 barrels in HOLDING tanks........ at 120 a barrel, that is 5,256,000,000,000 DOLLARS............
THAT is 5.2 TRILLION dollars...........YOU THINK those GREEDY sons of beotches.....would sit on 5.2 trillion...........I DON'T THINK SO........
I think your numbers are a little WRONG.........

I thought that I would share a few links with you guys that may shed a little light on the subject of crude oil. Some of you all may find these interesting and some will not. I did.
Enjoy.....

It's not the 7 cents we save on detergent.............it's the 50 bucks we save on a polo shirt made here, vs China, or Korea, or Honduras, or wherever........Wal-Mart only gives us what we want. No one is forced to shop there, but we do because we'd rather save 7 cents on a box of laundry detergent than care about where a product is made.
I feel the same way when people complain about our politicians. "We The People" only get what we want and deserve.
Our problem is our labor prices put our manufactured goods out of our price range..........AMERICAN UNIONS are responsible for putting Americans out of work.
It STILL amazes me that my step-dad made nearly 70k a year working for Warner Gear..............pushing a broom.........Granted he was there for 30 years, but 70K??

Wow!!! I agree 100% GEO. I'm also wondering about the reserve, well not really i think it may last 3 months instead of two. Someone definately has some facts crooked.
Maybe he was talking about drilling in anwar??Surely not, then we would have to supply polar bears sun block or birth control. SOME PEOPLE
Walmart can pull out all they want now, they've already let it soak in us long enough to do the damage![]()
Maybe it's not the unions but the greed of the companys, How many non-union jobs have been shipped out of this country? Most companys now have all their answering services based in India.....not because the telephone answering union(LOL) was to expensive but because they will answer a phone for 1.00 a day.Our problem is our labor prices put our manufactured goods out of our price range..........AMERICAN UNIONS are responsible for putting Americans out of work.

Nafta was a complete failure and now most companys are pulling out of Mexico(which is hilarious) because their labor rates are too high and moving production to China or South America, such as the largest outboard plant in the world built where?? China
VMAXX,
What outboard company is that? Maybe I should know but I don't.
Mercury marine
Mercury Marine to open plant in China
Company says move won't necessarily mean job cuts in Fond du Lac
Miami - Mercury Marine Inc. is opening a new factory in China in about two weeks, the Fond du Lac outboard engine company said Thursday.
Mercury Opens Plant in China
The $30 million plant will produce four-stroke engines that are commonly used on recreational boats and small commercial boats.
"We are making a lot of these engines in Fond du Lac at the moment," company President Patrick Mackey said in an interview at the Miami International Boat Show.
Mercury currently manufactures some engine components in China and is shifting production of 40- to 60-horsepower four-strokes to the new factory near Beijing. The decision to move more manufacturing to China was driven partly by economics, Mackey said.
"We wanted to make an engine at the lowest possible price, and China seemed to be a place that we should be for the future," he said.
Better economic position
Mercury has opened a new factory in Japan, in partnership with Tohatsu Corp., to build small Mercury outboards. The first engines rolled off that assembly line about three weeks ago.
"Our strategy is to get the smaller engines into the best economic position we can," Mackey said. "North America is difficult when you consider the cost of labor, health care and other things here."
Mercury is one of the Fond du Lac area's biggest employers. But as some engine production is shifted to Asia, it won't necessarily result in job losses in Wisconsin, according to Mackey.
Some employees won't be replaced when they retire, he said. And the work that's headed to the new China factory from Fond du Lac is being replaced by the production of Mercury's new Verado outboard engines, which are more expensive and have more sophisticated technology than the smaller engines.
I think it actually opened around 2005 but like the other American companies the writing is on the wall as evident in the 2 statements above, I'm not sure what they build their now but they started with the 4 strokes and I'm sure eventually they'll get them all........lowest possible price/at the moment.......ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't think it will happen Irwin Jacobs (Mr. FLW) and the head of walmart are old college room mates !!!!!!
Ha Ha Bet not many of you knew that ......
