Heard from a Walmart Supplier that the Fishing department is going to be "seasonal" just like lawn and garden. Look for big clearances this fall then reduced stocking and aisle space next spring.

Maybe sponsor money is in short supply. Could this mean the end of one of the BIG pro tournament circuits?
What would pro fishing tournaments look like if everyone had to paid their entry fees like we do? It would not suprise me if one of these circuits closes down in the next year or two.
Not sure which one would survive. Have you seen lower turn outs at your local events?

I have noticed a few less anglers at the events that I like to attend. Talked to a few of them and they say that it is GAS prices. HUH Imagine that!!

They are probably going to outsource it to China. Like they have everything else. I say let them go. someone will step up just like when Citgo (Chavez) got out of BASS.

As a fan of tournament fishing I never liked FLW weigh-ins and didn't care for their t.v.show so if it came down to BASS and FLW I say see ya FLW.

I would be fine with Wal-Mart pulling out of the fishing biz all together. Maybe the smaller shops would thrive. I rarely buy any fishing related items from them now, but we do buy our house hold items there.

I rarely buy fishing stuff there as well. I used to, but I realized if you want a smaller business to succeed, you just can't go there when wal-mart doesn't have what you need. I would love to see more local tackle shops thrive in the absence of Wal-mart.

Wal Mart must not be making the money that they want or they would be staying in it.

I am guilty of shopping for the best prices. I need to make every dime count. I shop where I can get the best deal. I hate to be that way but for me it is about what is the cheapest.

I try to use local shops when I can.

I will vote this year only because It is a right. But, there is not much choice.

Walmart gets almost nothing from me on fishing equipment dollars. I go to the local shop in Lexington (Backwaters) these guys appreciate my business and they are great guys as well.
