    Re: Cicadas(jar flies)

i've lived at this place for three years and every year i've see a few skins hanging on the trees and fence post, but this year they're on everything. me and the wife walked around for an hour smashing bugs.
talking about the tiny torpedo, i might have to dig out my old jitterbug, but around here i just lose it to a muskie..

I am by the General State Park on Cumberland and we got them crawling around here. Dogs have the brown noses as well, the one dog eats spiders, moths and any thing that moves so he is loving it right now. A big juicy spider is like crack cocaine for him.

I have used them messing around but didnt do much good, however I have use some top water baits when the bass were eating them off the surface and done really well, especially during high skies where i typically didnt do so well on top water in the past.

I used to use them in a pond when I was younger that was loaded with big bass that would not bite. It would drive you crazy when the water was clear and you could see a 6lb large mouth come over and look at your bait and swim away every time. I caught a few Cicadas hooked it in the butt and casted it out. They would flap there wings rapidly and swim in circles until the big splash came. Every time if there was a bass in the area they inhaled it every time. I am not a big fan on live bait for basss but I have to tell you they work better than anything. The only hard part is keeping the little bass off of it.
