    cumberland white bass

I know it is an old issue that most do not care about, but the fishery was fun when it was here. There has been no explanation at all that i have seen to that fisherys demise I would think with all the effort to plan stocking for every species in cumberland they might know what happened to the white bass in cumberland. Just curious, I would think there would be a simple reason as they are all gone for some time, but again maybe I live in the stupid world of ignorance. It is good there at times.

man i love it there. unfort someone always comes along and expects something of me and ruins my bliss. 2 years ago i met a guy in pittman that had a nice stringer of whites in the spring. the dnr had done some limited stocking on this end at that time but never heard if it was going to be a regular program. never caught them, but from what i hear an absolute blast when they are running. fishing pressure with most ending up in oil/skillet i would guess contributed to the demise to some extent.

In my humble opinion it was overharvesting plain and simple. I have seen picture after picture of 4x8 sheets of plywood completely covered with whites. When they run they are vunerable and when everybody that went out kept evey fish they caught do the math. If some limitations were put in place maybe they could make a come back who knows.

My buddy was shocked to get a couple in his throw net a couple of weeks ago. I asked him if he wasn't mistaken and they were small stripers. He told me he knows the difference. I think they are making a come back.
