I fished it earlier in the week, before the rain. The temp at the lower end was consistantly 68 degrees. The water had a slight stain to it at the time, and cluttered as usual. The bass are starting to turn on. You can find them very close to the banks using a variety of baits. There have been some numbers of smaller fish caught, but there have been a few good fish caught lately as well. Good Luck.
What about the hybrids and whites, are they still being caught trolling shad raps and rooster tails?
Fished Herrington today. Put in at Bryants. Fished up to the pipeline with no luck and went back to fish the creek across from the ramp and managed only 1 crappie (small one about 9"). Water was just stained and I saw very little if any debris floating in the lake. Made a run to Spears Creek to try to find some crappie, but no luck either. Water was clearer around Gwinn Island. Saw very little debris from Bryants to Gwinn. Water temp was 66 to 68 at each place we stopped. Wind was a killer though. Saw a few people trolling for whites, but most were not having much luck. We did bass fish for a bit, only had a couple of hits. In short, water was in great shape, not too much boat traffic, wind was terrible and I found the fish were not biting too good for me. May give it another try tomorrow. Would like to hear if anyone else had any luck because I know that there are alot better fishermen out there than I am. I would rather fish Herrington and have a day like today than fish Cedar Creek and deal with 5"- 6" crappie and 200 boats.
MSD,
Bass can be cuaght really well in the mornings on topwater and buzzbaits. Fish near the backs of the creeks. Was catching some really good fish on jigs around docks but no big ones Friday night. We did catch one four pounder and 5 other keepers Friday night. The crappie have been very tough to nonexistent here lately. I did take my daughters to Herrington last Saturday and we brought home 51 nice bluegill. They were around docks in 2-5 feet of water on worms. Hope this helps and good fishing.

Have been fishing Herrington for years and you are right about the bluegills. I love catching them drifting popeyes tipped with wax worms off the faces of the cliffs. Thinking of heading out and catching some to stink up a skillet. Herrington has some really nice bluegill. I caught a 1 pound one last year. Couldn't bring myself to clean him, so I released him. The big ones should be really turning on. I have not fished for them at all this year, but its getting about that time. Thanks for the tips on the bass.
Thanks fellows!
Planning on going Tuesday all day. hope what rain we do get if any is lite between now and then!
promise to let you know how I did.
