should be good by wednesday or thursday with the warming trend
I was down there on Friday and Saturday night and never caught one striper. I was told it was the moon phase that had slowed them down, but that it would pick back up again in a few days.
The moon has most definately thrown off the night bite for stripers. There are a few being caught, but if gas money is an issue, I'd put it off for a week or so.
What's everyones opinion on the full moon and night time striper fishing?
I've heard some people prefer the full moon. During April's we fished the dark banks...nothing, then went to a point in full light and bam, caught several right away.
??????
Generally, if the moon is bright (no cloud cover), it will scatter the Alewifes and make it harder to target stripers. On those nights, I mostly fish the dark banks. Not a 100% rule, but often works.

Went last night and saw not much shad movement.........caught 1 striper but lots of walleye................
What time did you get your bites? I will get to fish Thurs./Fri night, but I have to work Friday and Saturday and don't want to waste alot of time fishing the slow times.
Thanks
I would say the striper was just a right place right time one fish deal......and the walleye were caught after targeting rock slides after basically giving up on the striper bite.......around 3 am.......mabe could have caught the walleye that way all night not really sure.....im no expert at all just some info for you.....

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know.
Fished from 11:30 last night till around 5:30 this morning, put in at Fall Creek. I currently have 13 walleye,2 mudcats and 6 stripers to clean in the cooler. Biggest walleye was 27inches and we had 4 more over 24. Biggest rockfish was 38 inches.funny thing is......we didnt have a fish untill around 2:30, then after that it was lights out.At one point i caught a fish or got a blowup on 4 strait casts. This is probably one of my top 3 best trips on cumberland (not counting bass). This kinda sounds crazy but all i know is i got about 2 hours of cleaning fish to do. Caught them on thundersticks, live pointers, Gizz 4 and on a rico. My buddy had a hook with a split shot and when we would snag a shad he would let it drift, this netted our biggest walleye and the 2 catfish. Most of our fish came off moonlite banks.....but only in certain parts. We found the pattern like i said about 2:30 and ran it in 3 different spots......
Not rying to be a jerk here but unless you had three people in your boat 6 stripers were illegal. Two per day per fisherman, just pointing this out as you may be unaware. You were also one too many on the Eyes to. Six per day per fisherman.Fished from 11:30 last night till around 5:30 this morning, put in at Fall Creek.
