Do you tie direct to the Lucky Craft Sammy or put a split ring on it? It doesn't come with a split ring on it. Thanks

Use a split ring or better yet a wire snap on your line. the loop knots dont always work as well as they are touted.
I always tie a loop knot. I use one I learned off of a Woo Daves dvd. Probably the strongest knot I tie - but can be a pain in the behind. I use it on all of my topwater poppers and walkers.
I tie a loop knot..it has always been good for me.
Jerry the wire snaps work great and they walk like crazy.
I trust the loop knot over the snaps. You hook in to a mean fish wish the snaps and they will straighten
Depends on the size of the snap. I've got a buddy that catches stripers with snaps, and I've caught smallmouth up to five pounds on Sammy's with the snaps I use and never had a problem. I'm not saying it can't happen but it's not as bad as most people think.
We use those "speed clips" and troll for muskie. No problems to date with them. I also used them in Canada for Pike. I am sure if you bought the cheap little wire ones a big fish "could" strighten it out but as long as I have reel with a drag, I won't have that problem!![]()

I vote for Loop Knots as well. I don't like uneccessary hardware on my lures.![]()
The size of the snap is important, too small and it can fail. I used them for salmon fishing, and never had one of the proper size fail.I have fished suicks and even muskys will not pull one apart.
