    Re: cumberland by canoe

I've made the trip via canoe a couple of times. The shortest route we took was putting in at the dam and taking out at Rockhouse. The much longer version is putting in at Rockhouse and taking out at Burkesville. The second one takes much more time, and is much better if you can take a small trolling motor w/ battery. I also second everything that Birdstrike said.

    Re: cumberland by canoe

We canoe it a few times a year, and one generator is perfect. The route I usually take is to put in at Helms Landing and take out at Winfreys Ferry. It's about a 10 or 11 mile float I would guess, and there are some great shoals to fish along the way. I usually stop at the rockhouse to stretch my legs and eat lunch.
