electronics question

I have a Garmin 178 GPS/Sonar which I believe they don't make anymore. I bought a new boat and want to put the Garmin next to the console. Unfortunately, there isn't enough room for the base. A friend suggested a RAM mount, so I picked one up which was called a "universal" electronics mount. I wish! The bracket that the Garmin graph attaches to won't fit on the RAM mount base. Any suggestions?

Ram has several brackets they will have one that matchs up to your unit. There web site will help you find the right one.
