Hey Don, I did get me a nice dolphin (mahi mahi) along with a mess of Vermillion Snapper (bee liners) and a couple of blues (sharkbait) down in Charleston, SC last week. The dolphin took a cigar minnow I was fishing topwater and jumped chest high 3 times during the struggle. Like to gave me a heart attack.

Larry, not sure why you keep bringing up the race issue, my problem with BO has nothing to do with what color he is. Seems every time, and I mean EVERY TIME we disagree with, or call to task a prominent black these days, the race card gets played.

Since I disagree with a black presidential candidate, I must be a racist, right? Well the presidency is important enough that hopefully the race card doesn't trump the facts this time.

America is not going to dry up and blow away if a black man is elected president, but making the Senator with the most liberal voting record in Washington President, be he black, white, or polka dotted ain't gonna help either.

I'm not saying you're a racist, but race will be an issue in this race.So will religion, unfortunatly that is what the press will feature. If you think that bush did a good job, good for you, but he didn't make the government smaller, and more responsive, its exactly the opposite. I wish george well, I'd like him as a person, but as a president, he wasn't that good.

Realities being what they are, race will be an issue. I just hope it doesn't obscure the real issues.

Certainly the Bush administration is not without it's faults, I can't remember one that wasn't. We can agree to disagree on how good of a job President Bush has done.

If you're old enough, compare the Carter administration to the Bush administration and see how they stack up. Carter's only up side was his forward thinking on energy. His economics had inflation raging and mortgage interest rates as high as 18%. His dialogue based foreign policies made us the laughing stock of the globe. Those fine folks in Iran Barack's so anxious to chat with held over 100 American citizens hostage for 444 days and Carter did absolutely nothing about it. I take that back, he finally after a year authorized a small undermanned mission that ended in the desert with crashed helicopters and dead American soldiers.

We should've put a Bush sized boot up the back of the Ayatolla's robe back then instead of trying to rationalize with those who want to kill instead of talk. If we had, there prolly would never have even been an Obama Bin Laden, and the World Trade Center towers would still be standing tall.

I point all this out because BO reminds me more of Jimmy Carter than any pol I've ever seen, except he's even more liberal than Jimmy is. Well, he is a different color, maybe that's the change the Dems are carrying on about.

If you want to talk history, before carter, who was training savak? a part of Irans secret police. they used kidnapping, torture, and hit squads, and these thugs were trained here in the good ole USA for the Shah.We were busy sticking our noses into the middle east years before the embassy debacle.Eisenhauer warned us about getting involved in mid east politics, but who listened? Then we helped the rebels in afganistan throw out the russians, after that we helped iraq in the war with iran. What did we learn from britan and france from thier colonial policys in that part of the world? nothing!Yes carter was weak, we should have bombed the hell out of iran for that act of war, but we would have been fighting american trained pilots using american aircraft.I'm sorry, but democracy is a home grown thing, it can't be forced down someones throat by an out side power. Now about oil, I had an uncle who worked for aramco and spent 6 years in that part of the world. He retired at age 50 with a pension that even by todays standards was pretty darn good, hewaspaid a lot with stock in the aramco consortium, so our noses even helped start opec.

    Re: Obama

Good enough points about the Shah. That said, we probably supported him in the name of stability in the region and of course oil. What country over there doesn't have kidnappers and death squads?

Let's keep it in perspective. You're talking about a society where they beat women legally, then go bounce their foreheads off the ground in the name of Allah. Mkay?

You're an old dude Larry, and your recall is pretty good, how can you still be a Dem supporter?

Democracy is not going to be a home grown thing if people are oppressed to the point they never have the chance. Iraq was/is a proactive measure, we can't just put our heads in the sand and pretend the middle east doesn't exist. Do you want more World Trade center bombings or worse?

Okay, you and many others oppose the war right? I assume by voting Obama you support pulling our troups out and bringing them home immediately. Then what? Open talks with Iran, sit back and wait to get hit again? Please BO supporters tell me what we do next, what's the plan?

Our soldiers are giving their lives and engaging the terrorists on their own soil. They've been too busy fighting our military there to hit us hard HERE. Why can't people get through their heads the war with middle eastern radicals is by all accounts going to be a long tough road? It can either be fought over there, or it can be fought in our country. Which do you choose?

Nevermind, your vote for the farthest left wing politician ever to run for president in U.S. history answers that one for me.

    Re: Obama

I am voting for the candidate that will give 95% of working Americans the best tax deal and will take away the tax cuts from the wealthy 5% of Americans that won't miss it at all.

Trickle down has failed and it's time to change the economic and tax code to help middle class Americans.

The Ultra Rich will be fine. They may bitch and gripe a bit but they should get off the couch and get their hands dirty. Right now they use their money to make everyone else do their dirty work. That's going to change.

We were promised a fiscal conservative when Bush was campaigning but we got a fiscal DISASTER when Bush too office.

Still waiting for an answer on this one, Moose. You've replied to lots of other posts in this thread. Surely you wouldn't use a phrase you can't--or won't--define?
