    Boat ramp dodo's

Is there something that makes a normal person turn into a complete idiot when they get to a boat ramp? Yesterday at Patoka my friend and I get to the ramp and there is one guy with his vehicle and boat blocking the entrance to the ramp and there are two other guys with their outfit parked right in the middle of the two lane ramp. Well finally these dodos get their boat launched and get off the ramp and dodo number 1 is still getting his boat ready. I drive around him and back down one of the lanes and finally get to see something positive. Two ladies who pulled in behind us drove around ramp blocking dodo and back right down the other lane like a pro. Had to tell them it sure was nice to see a couple gals that knew how to back a trailor and use a ramp. Wouldn't it be nice if you had to pass a test to get your boat registered? My apoligies to any ladies who think this is sexist as it isn't meant that way.

Well those guys ain't normal because they don't have any common sense. Common sense and courtesy would have told them to get their rig ready in the parking area and not the ramp. Stuff like that happen a lot and I've seen it quite a few times myself. Once, there were this guy who pulled up, started to load up his small aluminum rig with stuff from the cab and bed of his truck. I was behind him in the wait line and this was a 3 lanes ramp. One lane got free so I back down, loaded the trailer, pulled out into parking area, strapped down, wiped the boat. When I left, this dude was still on the ramp.

IDNR should post signs at all state ramps requiring boat prep to be handled in the parking lot and not at the ramp. Geist isn't a state lake but the pleasure boaters there are notorious for this crap. Just the other day a couple backed their boat almost into teh water before they unsnapped and removed their cover occupying one of the three lanes for 10+ minutes. Then, once they launched the boat, instead of using REVERSE to back out of the loading lane, she decided to do a 180 degree turn which required her to go forward, in reverse, forward, in reverse at least 20 different times before she could get turned around. It wasn't pretty as they had the line backed up for quite a while.
