    Swimbaits

I know the ponds don't count but I torched'em last evening on a swimbait. Fishing the Money Minnow on a exposed leadhead and they were eating it like it was the last meal they would ever get. I'm gonna start fishing these things more I guess, dang it was a good bite. As it got later I switched to top walkers and buzzbaits and caught some more on those. I'm starting to gain a little confidence in those ole swimbaits, but like I said it was in a pond.

A fish is a fish pond or not. Some pond bass are finicky some are not but at least you get good practice on setting the hook, and all the stuff needed to learn to fish these baits properly. Looks like you had a fun day and with the gas prices ponds look better now.

Practice and confidence. The two can't be beat. I made myself learn to throw jigs, soft plactic frogs, soft jerkbaits, shakey heads, senkos, etc. at a farm pond. I wish that pond was still accessible so I could do exactly what you did with swimbaits.

    Re: Swimbaits

I'm glad you posted this. I used to use the two inch with a lead head and a beetle spin for smallies and tore'em up but for some reason I use mostly spinner spinnerbaits and crank baits now but when they are'nt biting I think of the old rig that worked so well. I'm calling cabellas now
