It doesn't matter to me whether it is a tournament fisherman or just a regular joe, people should be respectful of each other's space on the water. It just seems there are a lot of disrespectful people everywhere these days so logically they'll be some on the water as well. I'll just keep treating everyone like I'd like to be treated and not worry over the rest of them.

Re: Sad day for KY anglers

Last Tuesday, I was out "trying" to learn ledges, I've been "trying" to learn them for 10 years and my son and I went to a spot I saw on my map and threw out a bouy, we were chunkin and windin for 20 minutes "trying" to learn the area and a boat came roaring by and looked over at us and I heard the one guy yell to his partner "that's the guy who guides sometimes" HAHA I thought because my boat is well known from the previous owner - NOT ME. Well he whipped his silver Skeeter around an roared back past me and noticed I had thrown a bouy out and whipped back around (3 passes by now) he went 100 yards down turned his boat straight for me, I thought well he must think I'm so and so again and wants to talk, boy was I wrong he pulled in 30 to 40 yards from me and lined up on my bouy and started fishing in the same direction I was. My son kept saying "dad he's lining up on our marker".

I laughed 'cause we weren't catching anything, but to be mean I trolled up and pulled my marker because I had taken the time to find the ledge with it's irregularities and this guy is going to fish it for me?! I hear BEEP BEEP by this time I was almost in tears laughing my son had the biggest grin, well the wind pushed us around and I had to go old school "3 point reference" and the wind pushed me into deeper water, with the guys watching I set the hook into a 4lb 9oz smallmouth, and if it hadn't been for their rude (and the word I haven't seen yet) "UNSPORTMAN" like behaviour I wouldn't have this pretty little spot. I missed 3 fish on three cast after that so after they left I too left.

Karma. Treat those how you wish to be treated. And it doesn't matter whether it's $10,000 dollars or $300 dollars - with the shortage of time for most, fuel prices and medical problems to deal with don't cut someone off... please. Have respect and common courtacy to let me fail on my own, mark the spot if you want and roll on when I'm not there geeze. I am a weekend warrior not a pro part time or full, I fish the river in tournies and the lake but I most enjoy......bass fishing, in it's purest form.

I love to watch the pro's, I love to watch someone who knows more than me because I learn, when the big boys leave the lake and the tourney is over, I will try their spots, the fish on ledges will be there for a little while Tim Horton said he lost 2 that were over 6 lbs I'll try to catch 'em why not? All this said and I'm sorry for the length but we ALL -pro's, BFL'rs, weekend warriors should just be respectful...... period. JMO

    I'm with Elnut.

When did bass fishing become a competition of who has the most spots? Isn't it about building a pattern? As Dave pointed out, KVD is the best and that is why he can win with adversity. Anyone can buy a spot, you can't buy skill.

Re: Sad day for KY anglers

I read some of the stories on bassmaster.com.. rediculous! Evil this, evil that, The pros have been relying on guides since bass tournaments began so i dont want to hear it. And now they have side imaging, $2000 depth finders, gps that shows everything you could ask for and they cant find a couple more spots on 150000 acres of water. I use a 100 dollar depth finder and could still manage 11lb a day while they were fishing and that was my second time at barkley, i think they just like complaining.

I stopped reading at the end of your first paragraph. Maybe I missed something. I'd sure like to be there when you cast within two feet of someone elses lure. You're either going to have to have a really fast boat or your a really good fighter. I want to be there to see the fight.....
