has anybody heard of fuel theft from parking lot at the ramps or boats on the lake?
I was watching something where they said it is pretty much impossible to get a siphon hose into a tank on a 2002 model or newer. I think they said there's a ball in there that prevents you from getting a hose into the tank. I can't speak to exactly how that works. So, I haven't heard of gas being stolen. However, it seems anybody I talk to, mentions catalytic converters being stolen at ramp parking areas. They're a bit more expense to replace than gas as well. I think someone mention it cost $1200 to replace his.
A hole punched in the gas tank will defeat any anti-siphon apparatus. Catch what you can and let the remainder flow where it may. Who cares what damage it causes.
Actually had a lady bring her truck in today for an ses light and loud noise from the engine. Seems as though someone was trying to steal her converter and got spooked.
Wife said there was a report on the news tonight in Columbia SC where they are stealing them in parking lots at shopping areas. It said they can take one in 30 seconds. It seems to be rampant now. I would expect insurance companies to get involved soon, if it keeps up and push for strick guidelines on who can sell the platinum pellets. Kind of like buying psuedophederine used for meth.
