    spinner help

Went out to the Elk Horn this morning and was fishing with a Mepps Aglia and a Panther Martin. Caught some good fish, but that's neither here nor there. Seemed like every other cast, I would get hung up on the bottom with these lures. Lost one I just bought this week, which always hurts. I feel like that's kind of in their nature, but also, I'm pretty new to fishing so I could definitely be doing something wrong. If anyone can offer any advice for these lures I'd be real appreciative.

Loosing baits is part of fishing, so don't dwell on it too much. As far as fishing in-line spinners just try to reel fast enough to keep it up off the bottom and you'll be fine. In the creek that will be a challenge but just speed up your retrieve a bit.

For some odd reason, Ive gotten hung up a lot this year on the bottom. Well after loosing about $60-$70 worth of rapala DT lures, I made a lure knocker out of a 3 oz. weight tied on heavy nylon string,,,,,, guess what ....I havent lost any lures since .....definitely saves money .... give it a try...

Some of my favourite creek lures I've cut off the bottom hook on the treble. You miss a few bites but you toss it where you normally wouldn't

Thanks for the advice, I've heard of the 3 oz sinker trick but haven't given it a try yet.

The faster retrieve always has worked best for me. Cutting off the lower hook...I like that. Ill give it a try myself. The lure knocker works wonders as well. Spent .50 on opne and have saved myself about $100.00 in replacements and time.

Not sure about which pool you are fishing, but instead of breaking off, just wade over there, get up stream (assuming you casted upstream and were reeling back) from your snagged bait, and either pull it out or wiggle the rod tip in the water til it comes out.

You will lose baits in the creek, but normally you can just wade over to it. You may scare a fish or two, but there is more creek, and it beats losing a bait in my book.
