    Re: complain about what?

I've checked, and at Elmer Davis you can in fact keep up to 5 bass under 12". Here's the reg:

    ELMER DAVIS LAKE
    Owen County
Possession or use of shad for bait is prohibited.
    • Largemouth Bass: 12 to 15-inch protective slot limit. All largemouth bass between 12 and 15 inches in length must be released immediately.

Elmer Davis is a much smaller lake, with no shad at all. I guess it's kinda apples and oranges.

    DALE HOLLOW LAKE
    • Smallmouth Bass: 16 to 21-inch protective slot limit. One fish over 21 inches and one fish under 16 inches may be kept daily.

    Re: complain about what?

i'm sure being elmer is small and no shad it is due to the competition factor.them little ones are good to eat....i was mainly referring to nolin rough and barren slot, sympson here in bardstown is a good example of fewer fish but big ones, but it also has shad...i wonder myself sometimes abot green if it had a slot limit if it would get better,it is pretty dang good at 12 now..as said before about dale,if the record had not come from there a large slot would not ever been introduced.win win for us..

Thumbs up Re: complain about what?

I've been fishing Dale Hollow 40 of my 48 years and that slot was the best thing they ever did to Dale and it's only getting better.

slot limits will not achieve what tenn. wants which is to restore the trophy s.m. in dale which is 7 lbs plus. there is a two fish s.m tour. out of star point on sat. nites ck out the weights of two over 21 for the year & then tell me that its working.cumberland has more s.m. over 7 lbs than any lake around & when the effects of the 18 inch size limit kicks in it will have the numbers & the size. laurel lake has a 18 inch on s.m.& its a great s.m fishery in fact i would say it was better than dale or cumberland this year!!!!! no we do not need slot limits on s.m. bass i.m.h.o. it has not worked on dale hollow for trophy fish.

Trophy fish from man to man differ.I caught a 22incher this year and 2 in my party were caught over 21''.Thats trophy fish all day for this redneck. Not every fish you catch is over 21 but 90% of what weve caught out of there have been in that slot limit. How can you say its not working? That kinda of fishing is no where near what most are used to.I will take into consideration that some folks who get one over 21 will put in on the wall but not all.I told my buds that if i got one over 21 i was gonna mount it,but when the time came i let her swim.Theres a time when pure enjoyment and appreciation for fine fishing will over come greed and trophys.Ill guarantee you that anyone on here that has fished dale will say that the 18 to 20 3/4 are still special and numerous!!!!That slots working for me!!!!!
If we had that same slot on Taylorsville for all bass how long would it be before it wasnt called the dead sea anymore?Im tired of these local surrounding lakes where a 4 or five pounders+ are more of a rarity.Give me a slot limit where i can get a good tug more often anyday. Not downing your oppinion but saying a slot limit is not working for dale is nonsense.
