Im going to take my son nite fishin for bass on herrington.Ive not had much luck after dark any body offer any help thanks
Topwater rules afterdark... I like Jitterbugs personaly. If you want to target the monster bass throw a musky sized one!![]()
Let us know how it goes.
I ve had the same problem. Im good while the suns out and then someone turns off the fish. Lets us know how you do.
Herrington at night is all about timing. You can fish a bank for 30 minutes and nothing then all of a sudden you will get a couple of fish and some bites then nothing... One of the better tournament fishermen told me that Herrington is the only lake that he knows that changes by the minute...
I would try baby brush hogs, power worms and jigs. Last week it need a red flake in it to get them to bite... had 14.60 last Friday. Just my two cents...
Good luck.. and also another thing be very careful thru the no wake zones and leave your light on while fishing, heard they were giving tickets Saturday night for both offenses.
Smoke/purple tube and slow retrieve Bandits. Shakey head also can work well but I have to admit I have never had a big night. I never seem to find anything over 3 lbs.
If you fish plastic on the bottom, expect to break off on a lot of rocks and re-tie often. A black light is a must.
I have never seen a single bass angler with his anchor light on while fishing. I also have never seen the water patrol or wildlife guys out there at night. Guess it is working out different this year.
Guys I havent been at nite yet, but I can tell you the other day I had a great day on Herrington. White/Hybrids were in the jumps all over and it was easy to catch them on a rattletrap. I caught 5 largemouth between 7am and noon along with 6 or 7 whites/hybrids. I broke off one largemouth that was really nice, probably 5 lbs.
The bass I caught were all in shallower water. Some came on med depth cranks and others on plastic. Oh, and I caught about a 5lb channel cat on a crank bait. lol.
