I Got The Solution To Converter Theft!

I was watching one of those latin american 64 Chevy Impalas in a parking lot yesterday. You know, the low-rider set up with the hydraulic suspension that makes the car jump up like a monster truck, or drop to hug the ground. So I figured it out. I'm gonna take my truck to a low-rider shop and have the suspension hydraulics set up so I can drop this thing right down to the point its belly is dragging the ground when parked. As a first security point, when set flat on the tarmac, I doubt any thieve would be inclined to dig a hole to get to the converter.

And then the devil came out in me. How about you put an electric eye or two under the truck, and wire them into an intelligent switch for the motor that raises and lowers the hydraulics? I figure the switch would be set up so that when the doors are locked, and the ignition is turned off, the electric eyes would be activated and in a wait mode. I'd set the truck at normal ride height when parked. In so doing, I'd be leaving the truck wide open for attack! When anybody climbed under the car, the electric eyes would activate the switch, turn on the hydraulic pump, instantly raise the car to about 3 feet up, then drop it to just 1 inch off the ground. SSSSSSQUISH!. If I came back from fishing and saw feet hanging out from under the truck, I'd just stencil a stick man on the truck cab to indicate a mission accomplished, and to warn the next guy the system works.

Just think.....when set up in this manner, the truck could do double duty by keeping stray cats out of your yard too!

I think you are writing this only half seriously, but it really makes one wonder how long it will be before America is completely finished as a society/democracy. And, if anyone has any doubts that, as a society, we are on the downward slope, just think about how much money we have to spend to protect ourselves from the dregs of this society!!

A great thinker, whose name eludes me, once said something to the effect that: A democracy will only last long enough for the minorities to vote people into the goverment that will make the majority pay for the mainorities livelihood. Then, after a time the working majority will see what is happening, give up, quit working and join them on welfare. When there is no one left working to pay the taxes, the whole system will collapse and the democracy will die.

With all that is happening in the country today, what is our Congress devoting its time to: baseball, horse racing and gay marriage. When they do take up a vital problem, like something to help the economy, all they can come up with is more ways to spend money, especially for those that are on welfare and/or unemployed.

That thinker also said that historically a Democracy only lasts about 200 years until this happens.

We are getting there, folks, we are getting there~!!

Just make sure you deactivate the system before climbing under to make some repairs.....

Yep, I am amazed at how many politicians jump at the opportunity to fix a sport to be more equal, fair or whatever. Almost like they want to do something they can understand and get some easy results on while leaving the real problems for someone else. Disappointing to say the least.

That's another reason why I left the work force. Why should I give over a quarter of my earnings away?

Re: I Got The Solution To Converter Theft!

After what I saw last Friday afternoon, I think I have come up with a solution that costs less than a buck. One well placed bullet in the @ss of the catalytic converter thief.

I have recently purchased a new Ford F-150, Triton 5.4, and my wife and I drove it down to Quarryville (on Cherokee) and parked behind the little white church. We parked under a tree and were standing behind some bushes looking into the water. A man who looked to be in his late 20's, driving a beat-up old black Ford Ranger, stopped and was looking all around my truck. I stepped out from behind the bushes and he took off. He had to go down to the end of the road and turn around and come back out by me. I walked out and just stood there waiting for him; when he came by me he had the pedal to the metal and wouldn't even look my way. I don't know what he had in mind but I think he may have known what I had in mind.

I have one small change to the plan instead of having the truck at normal height and then raising to the highest level and then dropping to sssssssquish them park the truck at the highest level which will entice them to pick your vehicle. Also about the cats in the yard, your electric eye will not be able to differentiate a pole cat from a regular cat just a thought.
