    Ranger vs. Lincoln

Well i just had one of the scariest nights of my life last night. I was on my way to Yatesville Lake and a lady decided to run a red light and take on my Ranger boat in a Lincoln Town car. I looked at my fishing partner and told him to hold on we were getting ready to get hit hard. As quickly as I could I moved over into the passing lane and SMACK the inpact happened. The lady never hit the brakes and continued pushing us up US 23 for about 200 yards until her motor blew up. After we came to rest 1' from on coming traffic I looked at my fishing buddy and asked if he was alright and he said he was so we bumped fist and got out to check on the others in the car that hit us. This is when my perspective on the whole incident changed as I approached the other car the lady was asking us if we were ok and I told her yes and my only concern was that her 7-10 yr old granddaughter was ok. Thank the good lord everyone involved was ok.

What I took away from last night is Material Things can be replaced and if you pay attention you can help save lives. It is my firm belief that God had this situation under contol and that is why we are all breathing today. We may be sore and my boat is out of commission for a while but everyone is ok and that is the main thing.

Just thought I would share... So watch your rear view mirrors and be aware of folks driving Hot Rod Lincoln's unless you fish out of a Ranger.

I would post some pictures but I couldn't figure out how... If anyone wants to see pics from the LINCOLN VS RANGER bout let me know and I can email them to you.

    Thanks,
    Mitchell-Ranger Boy

I'm glad all involved are alright, and you seem to have a great attitude about the entire event. I would hope I could be that good about it.

Glad everyone was ok especially the kid.My next thought would be my poor boat, being my boat is 20 years old i dont carry insurance on it.Im sure her insurance will pick up the cost of your boat but if she wasnt insured would full coverage insurance cover whats being towed?

Yep gotta be thankful for sure!
My buddy had his Ranger nailed by a Astro Van a few years back I seem to remember that they can't rip the top half of the boat off due to the chemical bond of the materials(foam) ? Any truth to that? Just curious?

The boat took it like a champ on the chin. The trailer with stood most of the punishment but I have no damage estimates yet we are working on those now. It is hard to see your boat going down the highway on the back of a wrecker.

Hey, at least it wasn't a coal truck and at least you weren't on a motorcycle.

Hope you don't find any new aches and pains today.

It is always one of my biggest concerns. The other driver. I see accident after accident in my job. So when I am going to or coming from I just grit my teeth everytime I approach an intersection hoping the other person has their heads out of their lower regions and they see the extra 21 feet of vehicle behind me.
I as well am glad everyone is fine. good luck to ya.

Re: Ford and Laser vs. Eclipse

I feel your pain. A buddy and I weren't so lucky. We were headin down the Double A to fish at Maysville when a lady in a Mitsubishi Eclipse crossed the center line at about 70 MPH (according to Police Report) and hit the front end of my buddys F150 Lighting Edition head-on pulling his 17ft Laser Bass Boat (around the bridge at Ribolt just at that point where you can see the truck passing lane less than 1/4mile away). Needless to say, I don't remember what happened. I'm told when the EMS opened the passenger side where I was located, I simply fell out. The only thing I remember before waking up after back surgery at UK - is laying secured to flat board and the sound and pain of getting staples in the back of my head (where I almost got scalped by the boat and motor slicing thru the cab of the truck to land about a 100 ft down the road). Now my buddy was pinned well over an hour in the drivers seat (EMS had to cut him out of the truck) with both feet crushed and a broken lower leg where he was standing on the brakes before the impact. They airlifted him from Maysville Hospital to Cinci. The lady in the eclipse passed away 7 days later at UK. Things like that make you think of alot about the what ifs and putting things in perspective.

    Re: Ranger vs. Lincoln

I am glad to hear everyone was ok, especially the poor grand-daughters who did nothing and were stuck with a dumb driver. Chuck and I were on our way to the last KYBFN tourney at Big Bone when a deer tried to hitch a ride with us. He had just finished a story about a deer jumping into the side of his truck a few years ago, and I honestly was half asleep seeing as it was like 4 am, when we heard a BAMMMM!! The deer jumped into the side of his vehicle, he had the window down mind you, and hit its head on the side mirror and we never saw it before, during, or until on the way home (more on that in a sec). We pulled over and checked the truck and boat and found a scratch on the back door, can be buffed out, and deer hair all along the trim on the side of the boat. The only sign of blood, if I remember right, was a little under the front haul. So we went to on our way and were WIDE awake the rest of the trip. On the way home we were coming up on the "spot" and we talking about what happened when we noticed a "headless deer" in the middle of the grass between the highway. Best we can figure, since it was the EXACT same spot, is that the deers head got taken off and it flew there after impact It was kind of funny, after obviously, talking about it until I pointed out how close that deer was to jumping IN the open widow. Now that would have REALLY SUCKED.
Hope the boat get better quick!!

    Rob
