    Re: Bluegrass Brawl (ESPN Coverage)

A good friend of mine is part of the Skeeter demo team. He was there for this event (on the job). While taking a customer out for a demo ride he was idling out of the Dam Marina when he was stop my the water patrol. He did not even have his foot on his hot foot and was issued a ticket for speeding! There is no speed limit in the marina, it is just idle speed, so what is idle speed? Isn't it a different speed for every different type of boat? I hope it wasn't because he is from Missouri.
So in watching this event on tape last night I noticed that in one scene they were with KVD in his boat as he "idled" out of the marina. Boy was he putting out a wake! My friend is going to send this tape to the Judge in his case.
How many of you have seen boats in the Dam Marina going above idle speed. I know I have seen my share.

    Geo,
This is a very subjective rule and is beatable in court....or so I'm told. This is kind of like the minimum wake and other similar cautionary speed limits.
I think this is a dandy of an idea, but there are probably other things he can do that will be easier to do. Like calling the DA or County Attorneys office or the issuing officer.

Is it really necessary to run from the dam all the way down to Paris, Tn to catch big enough fish to win an event? When they showed how far some of those guys were running I thought it was ridiculous. If you are gonna fish a ledge with a crankbait aren't there closer ledges than all the way down there?

In watching the weigh ins on the computer Thur and Fri, many of them said they were running to get away from the crowds, both joy boaters and fishermen. Could you imagine the boaters around KVD if he fished North Ky, not to mention the fact that he led from start to finish would have just made it worse. Looked like Barkley was a ghost town compared to what the guys were complaining about on Ky. Dave Stewart told me that the ledges outside Ky Dam marina and Moores looked like a wrapped boat parking lot Thur and Friday. These guys were catching release fish. Think about all the tourneys that are held out of the Dam and Moores this spring. Those fish have to get out of the marina to find the ledges. I had one guy tell me a couple of years ago that he could take me to a ledge outside the Ky Dam marina in Mid May (which would put it about the first of June this year with everything behind schedule due to the water temps) and we could drop anchor and if we did not catch 100 fish he would give me his boat.
