    Herringtons fish habits

Been to Herrington a few times this year. Done good the second and third time. Yesterday was much different. I look for bass about all the time. I used plastics mainly. All the hits I got were quick hard and brief. A couple of times the tails of the worms I use were completely gone.
Switched to cranks and spinners with not much at all. Fished from 930 till about 3pm. In all, my co fisher and I caught 3. Not a good day at all.

Sounds like Bluegill hits, or small bank runner Bass grabbing the worm and gettin the heck outta dodge. Did you let them run, or set the hook at first feel/line movement ??
You got the hours right ... but, maybe you shoulda done it on the PM side of the day. Most times I've fished there, in June, it's been a 9P-3A trip. Cranks parallel to the bank, 12-15ft bottom depth, and plastic worms/craws for shallower & deeper depths. And it's normally during the Full Moon portion of the month (helps me see the overhanging tree branches and brush sticking out from the cliffs ... LOL !! )

Yes, Night time is the right time on Herrington...I fished for awhile on Friday night and caught 5 , 4 keepers and 1 short fish. 1 on a jig and 1 good fish on a crank after dark. the rest were on plastics.

    Re: Herringtons fish habits

I went last monday morning and fished the Dunn area and upstream - I caught fish in the jumps on rattletraps as someone said above, but mostly they were hybrids doing the jumping. The 5 largemouth I caught were on med diving cranks and they were not on the bluff walls, they were on shallow flats. None were under 13 inches and the biggest went 3lb. Seems to me Herrington is on right now.

The bad thing is is I work nights. Morning time is about all I have to fish. So its the morning bite I have to look for. I guess I will give it a shot again Wednesday and see if I can talk the wife into a night trip. Thanks again.

Went this morning just a last hour decision. Got there late as usual and missed the am bite. Caught one bass in my usual spot but thats it. I will get a better launch next week I hope and do some night fishing.
