I'm interested in learning how to consistantly catch cats on a rod in Kentucky Lake in the daytime in the summer months. My wife and daughter really enjoy catching them and I've had some really good days, but want to feel like I really know what I'm doing when I'm going after them. Any tips would be appreciated........also I'd really like to hire a guide that really know how to target cats........preferably North of Paris Landing and South of the 58/80 bridge. Any ideas???

You don't need a guide. Go below either KY or Barkley dam. Either throw net for some shad or go to Ken's TBC (next door to the Pelican) and buy a jar of shad sides (used to be 3.00).
While you are at Ken's buy some bottom rigs or make your own with no slip loops and a 3 - 4 oz weight on the bottom (picture drop shot rig). I like a 6'6" medium heavy, abu 5500 or 6500, and 15 lb p-line cxx here since you are targeting eaters. Drift around and catch fish!
You CAN catch fish away from the heavy current safely.
