All I can say is, the River's on.
Talked to AJ at Anglers before heading to Camp Nelson. One of the ramps is out and the other is tricky and covered with silt, but workable. I put in at about 2:40 or so and went upstream toward the lock and hit every rock bar and rock bank that had anything irregular on it. The River was beautiful, had a nice green color and was clearer in the current.
I picked up 6 smallmouth by the time I got to the lock, only 1 under 12 inches. On the way back down, I got into some Kentuckys and caught 8 of them, 3 of them were 12 or under, but the rest were very chunky and fat, in the 12-14 in range. The buffalo carp were thick and I had to beat one off my line that went about 30lbs. Then I mistakenly got into the gar and I had a spotted gar on that would have went 25 lbs and two good sized channel cats. Every single fish came on the same crankbait and it was just about the only thing I threw all day.
Anyway, it was a great typical summer evening out there, I left at 8 oclock and had caught all I wanted. Great fun.
A 'what up' to the Angler's guys, good talking to them.
