Hybrids

Does anyone know if hybrids can be caught at night under the lights like whites? If they can where is the best place to start? Should I try bluffs, flats,drops,points or what? Do I need minnows, spoons or grubs? I'm taking that super nice man that lets me hunt his farm and I want the trip to be a success. He doesn't fish much and I would like to get him in some fast action. Help!

you knw this may sound strange weird but we was at barren at night catfishing and caught a bunch of them on chicken livers. just a idea to add to your bait. we was fishing on the edge of a flat by the narrows.

Have not tried myself, but told by a reliable source:

Two islands between the Narrows and State ramp. Between the two islands is a large flat with a dropoff from approx 12' to 20'+. Bottom bounce or Carolina rig nightcrawlers or chicken liver on the edge of the drop for hybrids. Do not let the bait sit still...bounce or drag slowly. Sometimes the fish will also be roaming the shallow flat if they are not on the ledge. The less boat traffic the shallower the fish will be. Don't know how the moonlight (or lack of) will affect the bite.

I used to catch several hybrid at Barren with the lights. The place the gentlmen was talking about between the islands is very good this time of year. I always had good luck fishing "hog back" which is the point coming off of penninsula boat ramp. I would use the crappie lights, anchor the boat in about 16-18ft of water. I would fish night crawlers about 12" off the bottom. Would catch severl hybrid and cats that way.
