Chub...
I've found that early morning and later afternoon work the best for me. There have been days when the bite is on ALL day, but as a rule around lunch time they shut down and they don't pick up until 3-4 o'clock. That's just my experince. I have learned one thing because I was stranded down on Helm's one night after an unfortunate "dropping keys in the river to the truck" situation...we fished all the way until dark and killed the trout! Since then we have been staying longer and fishing till dark.

I have a question though? I've been hearing about a bunch of "slot" sized and bigger fish being caught by the dam...that's not what I have usually found. We always caught bigger fish down stream, but with a small amount of generation are the trout moving up stream for colder, moving water?
