Well my luck just will not break. This week both of my computers went down. No place in Alaska to fix them. The boss George of Funny Moose Lodge has ordered me a new computer to use at the lodge so I should be doing video reports again SOON.
Till then the salmon count hit 5000 this week which is about average for the second run of King Salmon on the Kenai. The second run is normally 6 year old fish. These are the largest Salmon in the world. The world record is 97.5 pounds and fish as large as 72 have been caught this year. 2 over 50 were brought into camp this week. The last 2 weeks of July are the best for King Salmon and also the run of sockeye's starts. Those are smaller fish, but the most popular food fish in Alaska.
Halibut Fishing continues to improve. Finally a 348 pounder at the Halibut Derby in Homer this week. Should win the monthly prize and has the lead in the yearly prize of over $48,000 each year. They also have tagged fish worth Thousands of dollars.
That is all from Alaska. I hope to get more video this week when the new computer gets here.

Well not close enough that I heard or saw it. It was on the end of the Aleutian Chain. The Cook Inlet is about 400 miles away and the area I am at is about another 100 miles.. guesstimate.
There had been a bunch of small earthquakes there the last month. Yet it was still a surprise to the seismologists.
No pics of it.. sorry about that. IF I get the chance I will try to do some up close and personal reporting on it. Maybe someone wants to pay the $1500 fly out fee to go see it?? Or maybe one of you WHAS, WAVE or WLKY workers can get the station to pay my way? LOL.. Have video camera will travel and interview...
Jim
