No Tim...you're not confused...you're just a good ole' boy with really good equipment! Hope to meet you on the water one day.

    Re: Flyfishermen vs. Rednecks

After fishing all day with Troutcrazy, for my 1st time ever fishing for trout, I came home and checked out some trout fishing on Youtube. All of it came up as fly fishing. I found the fly fisherman of all fly fisherman and he gave me a good understanding of the "Fly Guys". He was talking about fishing and there being nothing around him but running water. Sounds a little put off by the thought of someone fishing in the same state as him. I enjoy seeing other people in the outdoors. Especially as fast as this world is moving today. I guess that puts me in the "Redneck" category. Although I ate Combos and Powerade. I have some class.

    Re: Flyfishermen vs. Rednecks

I think there are some Fly fisherman out there who get all caught up in it being more of a sport if you use one hook instead three...and there's some truth to that I guess. And I have felt the coldness from a fellow "trout brother" as mentioned here. But all in all it never has spoiled my pinto beans none! I always just assumed they had "personal issues" they were dealing with, LOL...(Ok, just kidding fly guys, JUST KIDDING!!)

In my opinion the fly fisherman truly get more out of their fishing trips than me, more as in truly allowing their minds to escape the pressures of everyday life while fishing, etc. I say this simply because fly fisherman usually have less equipment to worry about or contend with, etc...The first time I used a flyrod was father days weekend this year at a farm pond and I liked it! Catching bluegil on the fly or even 14" to 16" bass was a great time...so much so that I'm going to invest in a good fly fishing rod/reel at some point... This doesn't mean I'm going to ditch my casting and spinning gear, it just means I like it all!

Now all I have to do is decide if I want to get that new F-N-F rod that I've heard Shimano is coming out with or if I want a nice flyrod, my pockets ain't deep enough to purchase both in the same year.

That's funny. Wonder if you could get a response if you say " Hey, you boys shore do have a perty mouth" LOL. Some people just can't lighten up at all. Society is just that way, people thinking they're better than others. Wonder if Orvis would market a "Git-r Done Whooping stick" fly rod. It would come with card that states " It's Ok to speak to others on the water"

You know I get this sometime on the lake to from the Ohio Navy sometimes. They give me that why is that dumb redneck in that bassboat waving at us look. Which just makes me wave harder and make a goofy face at'em. My wife just loves when I do that.

Never could get the hang of casting a flyrod. I always snap the leader every time I put that 1/2 ounce spinnerbait into the back cast. Nope! Just never got the hang of it!

I have a brother-in-law who is the A typical fly guy, his wife is the A typical fly wife and her sister (my wife) is normal. Why she married me I still don't know. It can get interesting at times when we all get together. They like to hang out with snooty people and sip wine and talk about art and theater. The food that they eat is not real tasty. It always tastes like someone has already eaten it once.

When we have a get to gather at my house we pound beer, play corn whole and talk about normal stuff. The food is usually brats and BBQ chicken. I am proud to say that I am a redneck or good ol' boy. It is funny how people are different. I guess that is what makes the world go round. Ryan
