Very Interesting Thread! I Never Knew There Was Such A Divide Between "redneck" Fisherman, As You All Call Them, And The "elite" Fly Fisherman. Being Originally From Wyoming And Haven Grown Up Both Spin Casting And Fly Fishing For Trout, I Always Thought The Main Goal Was To Catch As Much Fish As Possible. If That Involved Throwing A Spinner One Day, Or Fly Fishing With A Bh Nymph The Next....that's Just What It Took! That Is, As Long As It Wasn't Corn...that Stuff Kills Trout! They Can't Digest It, So Please Don't Use It! Anyways, Off My Soap Box On That....i've Had Awesome Days Fishing Both Ways, I Just Have Found Through Experience That Trout Feed On Underwater Insect Larva About 90% Of The Time....i Like Those Odds! All Though A Gold Super Duper Works Sometimes, I've Yet To See One In The Wild! Lol! Anyways, Don't Believe That All Flyfisherman Are "elitist" And That They Don't Also Drown A Worm Once In A While (when It Works Better). And As For Equipment, I'm The One With The $40 Hodgman Chest Waders, The Pflueger Fly Rod I've Had Since I Was 12, The Home-tied Flies, And The Spinning Rod In The Car (just In Case!). And By The Way, I Drink Mt. Dew And Spit Sunflower Seeds....not Much On Oral Cancer! Lol! It Seems People Need To Just Relax! We Are All Fisherman...we All Seek The Same Thing...that One Big Fish!
If You See A Big Guy Out On The C-river Below The Wc Dam, Make Sure To Wave And Ask How My Day Is Going (that Is, If I Haven't Asked You Already!). And Don't Worry About Crossing My Fishing Lane...i Understand The River Is Extremely Shallow And That There Are Only So Many Places A Boat Can Make It Up/down River! Good Luck To All And Keep Your Lines Tight! Hagd!
