    Angry There goes my donation!

Was watching one of the news chanels lately. It made my blood boil.I shouldn't even say this, but enough is enough! This nun was explaining the plight of some of the wives of the 300 illegal workers busted in Iowa lately, and how they were supporting them.I guess the word illegal does not mean much to that church! Not only were these guys illegal, many of them had forged documents, provided by some of the managers of this plant. They should be paying for the care, even while they are serving jail time.Last Sunday, was passed by a church bus, one of those oversized vans, whats unusual about that? I was almost driving 80!I guess mans law dosn't mean much anymore, when youare working for the lord!Catholic charitys do a lot of good work for people, but they wont be doing it with my money anymore. There wouldn't be illegal immigrantys, if employers followed the law.A another case of special intererests, working for themselves, and to heck with the law of the land or any moral law.

one other thing, what was sheriff taylor and deputy fife doing? Why they were busy enforcing the law! like speeders, and a pot smoking kid, they got busted! When I see this stuff happen, and its common here in KY, what does it tewll me about the integrity of the police forces here?I was always told to uphold thelaw, most of time, except for a little speeding here and there I do. But a jaundiced view is beginning to cloud my vision. If these guys are only enforcing certain laws, why not justforget about mostof the inconvienant ones?Maybe I'll open a doughnut store, hire a few illegals, the cops wont bother me.

    Larry,
I'm with you in that confused state of what is happening in this country. I know you have seen alot more than I have in your lifetime so I suspect your disgust is amplified ten times over. Makes me want to say a dirty word at times!
Hey if you like to read check out "The Bluegrass Conspiracy" it's a great read(imo).

    Re: There goes my donation!

See my replay on the other post for my views on illegal's. They are using fake SS #'s id's etc. And I also see them driving big rigs and doing work for the county and some stae contractors. Also a big factory in my area has several working there. And another question, when these illegal's are busted for speeding, dwi, no ins no lience why are they not deported right away. Also I agree with you on the church thing as most illegal's are catholic the church protects them. This country is going south fast, it is a shame that they are making American children learn spanish. Now I do like Mex food, Margureitas. and corono, but if I wanted to live in Mexico I would move there as it has to be deserated as they are all here. This is where I differ from most liberals as they are wrong on this.

LarryG I take offense to what you have to say about the cops. I have been a cop for over 10 years and almost all of it in the west end of Louisville. I could worry about the speeders up and down the road. But the bigger problems like gangs, drugs (not marijuana although that stuff is bad), stolen cars, burglary, shootings and murder. Despite what the Communist Urinal says crime is up just ask any beat cop. This time of the year we hump are buts off. Sorry if when I get gas I run in and get a Coke at Thornton's. Almost everyday I bring my lunch to work and eat it while driving betweens runs.

Maybe if you did not speed or just roll through that stop sign I would not have to pull you over and I could look for other "real crime." Or if people would just slow down there would be fewer wrecks that I would spend half my day on paper work and could catch a few criminals who "up hold the law most of the time."

Unless they pass legislation local police do not have authority to arrest and deport illegals. Ryan Scanlan my cell phone is 502-664-5921.

    Re: There goes my donation!

Our great think tank of elected officials here in Lexington has adopted the policy that illegals are a federal issue. So unless I'm wrong they have said if you (illegal) commit a federal crime we gotcha but if it's not a federal crime have a nice day!
Ryan I know your a Police Officer from reading your posts in the past and I respect that. I'm not speaking for Larry but I did take some of his comments as just run of the mill cop jokes. I will say I watched a show on NatGeo last night about Gangs in L.A. and if thats how it is in L-ville I'm thinking your up against a mountain...be safe man.

Glad you ansewered that ZX150, we need legaslation passed then. I know it is hard on you beat cops, the gangs here are growing mostly MM, and Le Eme I ahve seen serveral wearing colors and tats that show their afflition, I used to work in DJJ and know about gangers. These mexican gangs are bad news as they stop at nothing to get their turf est. If they are here in our rural county I can't imagine what it is like in L ville esp the west end, that is a tough beat anyway and also the commucation problems. It has made both our jobs harder and something needs to be done as they are causing a very sharp rise in crime and violent crimes.

    Re: There goes my donation!

Thanks for your support. It is not nearly as bad here as it is in LA. They are the capital so to speak for all of gangs. As far as dealing with illegals here, I don't know how we would even Begin to stop the problem. We are already several officers short on every shift in every division. When you add in schools, training, vacations and sick days we run with the minimums almost everyday. They would have to hire a whole bunch of new officers to get us up to where we can go out and be more proactive and less reactive; let alone have us chasing down illegals. As soon as we hire a class of 30 new officers 40 retire. I don't have the answers but somebody better start thinking of something quick. Ryan

    Ryan,
Here in Lex all police officers get a cruiser, even the rookies. Is that how it works in L-ville? I use to hear how the Lex police were losing officers due to pay not sure it happens anymore.
I still feel that Teachers and Police Officers are under payed because both occupations handle kids and deal with the shortcomings of our society more than most other occupations.

    Re: There goes my donation!

Most jobs that deal with the public in tese situations are under paid and under staffed. We in Social Services are greatly understaffed, and over worked and when one retires thay do not replace them as the state is broke. Besher promised us a raise but it did not happen this year or the last 5 years. When I worked for juvenile justice we did not even get hazard pay and also the turnover was tremendous as no one whats to work with these criminals, gangers etc.I feel for the police and firefighters as they risk their lives everyday, and now it is not even safe to be doing what I and teachers do as things are getting dangerous, I have had several clients get angry and try to hit me for denying them food stamps, and teachers have to deal with the same punks that the cops do. Stay safe zx and remember it's a jungle out there.

    Re: There goes my donation!

We are getting cruiser pretty quick, after 3-6 months in most cases. Which is pretty good. When I first came on it took almost 3 years to get one. The pay is not great. I heard that Lex PD has got some good raises the past few years. We just got a new 4 year deal and it is OK. The benefits are good but the pay is still way below other departments the size of LMPD. But as long as we have the same mayor we won't get much.

Given the economy, with the layoffs at Ford and G.E. my job looks pretty good.

As far as teachers are concerned they are not any better than we are. My wife was in the classroom for 10 years and has been the Librarian for 2. There is no way I would put up the garbage she does and she is in one of the nicer schools here in The Ville. A lot of officers are moving out of county so they can send their children to another school system other than Jefferson Co.

What do you do? Teach the kids right from wrong and take them fishing and pray that they get hooked on it instead of dope.

    Re: There goes my donation!

I feel that kids in a church with a great youth program that exposes them to proper decision making and learning to care for others have an advantage. I am talking about God and lessons from the Bible. IMO
Taking prayer out of the schools is wrong and while that's not the main problem it is one of them. IMO
I can't help but point out something that is very clear to me. With all the talk of Government Provided Healthcare why don't people just look at all the other programs that they control? Educational system is in the dumps and has become a daycare and birthing center. Public housing is intolerable and breeds continued dependency...why can't people see that? Sorry but I feel strongly about how inadequate the Gov is at providing for anyone. Be safe out there!
