Mammoth Cave Visit

I wasn't aware that the park uses Propane powered buses. Thought it was a sign of things to come. Made me happy to see someone working toward an alternative fuel source. I wonder if all the National Parks do this? BTW, the caves were a great getaway and the kids loved it. hagd

Very cool place indeed. All that have not been need to go and see the wonders of the Cave. They run a nice show down there.

My wife grew up 5 minutes from the cave...I've spent some time down there and it's a beautiful place. I want to fish Green River in the park.

My wife mentioned that there is a Restaurant in one of the Caves, is this true?

She's been wanting to go, but figure I'll have to bundle up real warm, to keep my back warm as possible...Due to the cool temps in the cave....

Well there is a snack bar and bathroom stop on the SnowBall Tour. After you eat lunch (nothing but soup, subs, candy, chips and drinks) you walk back the same way you entered. This tour was ok but not worth doing again. The Historic Tour was better and both are pretty easy. Kinda like walking on the sidewalk (snow ball tour) because of the trampled down clay.

The Snow Ball tour was alot easier but on our tour an older couple had a problem with the 200+ steps coming out of the cave. They were alright but the woman got a little out of breath and we found out she was diabetic as well. So we stayed until she got to feeling better luckily my girlfriend is a Nurse so we had some back up in the event of things going down hill.

We all wore shorts and brought along a jacket and or sweater. I didn't use my warmer clothes but my girlfriend wore both of ours.
