Daiwa VIP Smallmouth Rod

I bought one of these rod earlier in the year and liked it. Light, sensitive and all around good rod. Well I broke it just getting out of the rod box and sent it back. They have a lifetime warrenty on them so I wasnt too upset that it broke. Well I got it back and opened the rod tube and the darn thing was broke again. So lets keep count thats 2 rods that are broke. Sent that one back and they sent me another NEW rod. Opened it up and it was broke.... So thats 3 times That model rod has broke.. Sent it back again and go another NEW rod... IT WAS BROKE... So that was 4 rods that had been broke. My original and then 3 new ones sent to me. Yesterday I finally got a new Rod that wasnt broke... But I dont know if I want to keep it or not If they break that easy. To me it seems they tried to copy the g-loomis bronzeback series and they narrowed down the tips a little too much. They were all breaking about 2 inches down from the tip.

Just thought I would pass this along to whoever was thinking about getting one of these rods. Good rod but they break WAY WAY to easy

I have heard that about several different rods. Company's are trying to get lighter and lighter rods, but it makes the rod more susceptible to breaking. Ryan

The Gloomis Bronzeback rods are really something special. I have 2 spinning models and throughly enjoy them.

I have seen the same problem with the dropshot models of Shimano Crucials. Very, very light and sensitive tip, but breaks easily between the tip and the first eye.

It is a good thing these companies have reliable warranties.
