Help with lights

I am going to rig my boat up with some lights to see better while running at night and for seeing my jugs while night fishing, I would like some opionions on what type of lights to use, I dont know if I should use flood lights or spot lights. Please give me your input.

Head lights are not legal in KY , Docking lights are. They were writing tickets at Barren around the 4th for headlights on pontoons I guess all the complaining finally got someones att. They really make things dangerous for the fast boats. We can not tell which way they are going and can run right in their path thinking the white head lights are their legal rear light. Often the amber and green are not even visible behind the glare. I would just use a spot light

ANY lights that interfere with the proper nighttime running lights required on a boat are illegal. This includes docking lights, floodlights, rope lights, lighted name signs, or any other light besides the white stern light and the green/red bow light... But this is only when a boat is in transition (I think).

I believe what you were asking is which light would be best for nighttime jug fishing, a spot or a flood. Both lights perform just as their name implies...one will flood an entire area with light while another will shoot more of a direct beam of light, thus the term spot light. If I were you I would only use spot lights as a means for searching for jugs, etc...Just my own opinion.

While bass fishing at night recently, I noticed after dark that a boat nearby had taken gallon milk jugs and put the little light sticks in them and they let off a mild glow that could easily be seen when a fish tried to take them away. The only time they would use a light was when they chased a jug that was hooked to a fish and did not draw as many bugs as a full time light would. (I hate bugs at night)

we use reflective tape held on with zip ties. you can shine a spot light a half a mile and see them
