I had some bad luck with goodyears. Had one blow out and the tread come off the other in less than a year. I went with Carlisle brand tires, so far so good...KP

Same here - I pull a Ranger 520VX and they've held up great

just had one blow out last week. been boating for over 20 years and that's the first tire problem i've every had. Ditching the good years.

My boat came with Carlisle tires, kept having tread delaminations. Dealer kept replacing tires as defects. Found out that they also make the Goodyear Marathons. I blew out 5 tires in one summer. No more Carlisle's and no more blowouts...

What ever brand you buy, check the last 4 didgets on the back of the tire, its true about tires aging, and coming apart, they were showing tires 6 yrs old being sold as new. The thing with N2 works, filled all my tires with it for years, seeing as I worked at a plant that had it easily available.

had 2 sets of carliles first set had a big bulge come in the sidewall. set number 2 one had belt to break another one blew out .i now am running good year marathon and i am happy whith them . gave 85$ a piece at ross tire in beattyville ky.

Regardless of which brand of tire you go with make sure you do proper maintance to your tires and trailer to get the most life out of them that you can. Some tire shops will tell you that you don't have to balance a trailer tire... I always get mine balanced. I feel like an unbalanced tire is hard on your wheele bearings. A wheele bearing that falis will cause heat and in return that can cause a tire to fail.

Also make sure you get the proper load class tire. I have a sticker on the tounge of my trailer that tells me all the information about the hitch height/ wheel size/ tire pressure/trailer weight/rig weight...one day I was looking at the sticker and realized I had the wrong tires on my trailer.

I had a load class B tire. If my memory is correct the max load rating for a B class tire is 1350lbs. I always thought that all trailer tires were to be inflated to 50psi... wrong load class B 35 psi. The sticker on my trailer called for a load class C with 50 psi.

I went with a load class C tire and if my memory is correct they have a weight rating of 1750lbs. They inflate to 50 psi and on my set up they pull much better and have less bounce than the b class 35 psi tires I had.

As for brand preferance...in the last 15 or so years I have had two different boat trailes and both had Goodyear Marathon Trailer Tires...as stated before one of those sets were a tire that was under rated for my rig and they still held up. 15 years of trouble free pulling Marathons... if I had one to fail I would still go and buy another set. They seem to get the job done for me...but most importantly get the right size/load class/inflation/get them balanced.

I used Marathons for years. Had 2 blow outs over 20 years pretty good rate I would say. But they stopped making them with white letters so I went to Maxxis tires have had them for 7 or 8 months now without a problem. Glenns tires in Louisville

I agree 100%. Been running them for five years on a single axle Skeeter trailer. They still look like new and never had a single prob.
