    Re: Your business???

Our business is good right now and has been for the past umpteen years. I work for the largest fire protection company is this part of the country in the service department. I do alot of driving everyday and travel at times all over tenn. and ky and southern Ind. Our company has service contracts with alot of the big companies in this area including major chain stores. I luv my job and make pretty decent money and this will kill some of ya...WE ARE UNION......I'm going into my 33rd year in the trade and yes I'm good at what I do.....Besides being a public relations guru I do know my trade. Been working 6 days a week the past month not counting the overtime I get during the week which is keeping me from fishing as much as I would like to. One thing I really like about my job is all the different businesses I get to go to and what I get to see and I've met some really interesting people over the years. Probably been in most of the towns ya'll live in......

Right now life is good for my wife and myself........we're lucky and we know it........

See I am compassionate after all..........................

We do anything related to sprinklers....no alarm panels.....even though I have to trouble shoot them at times. Too many wires for me to keep track of. Work on wet systems, dry systems, preaction and deludge systems and backflows of all kinds. Foam system if need be. All underground from the tap into the building. I'll even do the tap if you don't want to. All inspections when they are needed. You want it we can do it......My house has a sprinkler system in it...put it in when we built the house in 1993....about 40 heads total.....We work with FESCO alot and FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES. They both are alarm companies in Louisville and they both will and do travel....I spent 3 straight weeks at UK not long ago we should have got together and had a beer....My treat of course.......There sure is alot of good looking young gals to look at UK...including the older ones............95 miles from my house to UK hospital....long day when I go there.....

I'm at a graphic design, multimedia/web company under the corporate umbella of a small company that does marketing and education mainly for pharmaceutical companies. We've laid off about 20% of our staff in the past 2 months and closed one office to consolidate into the larger building. I'm not really sure it's the economy that has forced this, though.

As many of you know I am a policeman. Business is great despite what you may hear or read the crime is up and is going up. Bad for everyone, but good job security for me (that was a joke). The news has just started saying a that thieves are taking copper pipe out of buildings and sometimes the wire. It has been a big problem for the past 2 years and they are just now getting it as the big story. I talk to a guy who put in 22 windows in an old rental house left at dark came back the next morning and they were all gone.

Have any of you guys in the construction or fire protection seen this in your area?

If things stay the same crime will continue to rise, I don't know what will be left to steal (another bad joke I really do take my job seriously). Ryan

    Ryan,
We converted an old super walmart into a church last year (gives you an idea of the size) and this project had 22-25 roof top units. Recently someone got on the roof and started stealing the copper from those roof top units! I believe they were caught because someone heard them up there.
Many projects get robbed of copper even after the wire has been installed. Tools get stolen, storage boxes get stolen and trailers on site disappear.
We won't install product in certain parts of the state (eastern) unless someone signs for it because of these sticky fingered goons.
    It's sad...

    Re: Your business???

i work for a supplier of cold storage products such as insulated coolers for temperature sensitive products, ect...
at the begining of the year we were so slow we let two shifts go and seinioroity (spelling) stayed and we now work one shift. our main customers are pharmaceutical companies and American Red Cross. i have been with this company for around 9 years and we have had good times and bad times. right now what is affecting us is transportation cost. we have a light bulky product and we have had to increase price a little to cover for expensive trans. cost. our sales team which is out of state has a hard time explaining increase. we have 27 plants around the US and things are looking up. for the last two months we have been slammed and have brought back 4 laid off employees at our site and hired dozens of new employees across the US.

    Re: Your business???

I work for myself as a Statewide Distributor for a newly patented Product of fishing poles as well as a student of nursing in my second year. I have had a great year thus far. In fact my girlfriend who is a nurse practioner has given up her practise and came with me to shows and demonstrations events and fairs for displaying our product line. I think when people get the crunch of the cash flow they need stress relief and what is better than going fishing???? GOLF?? NO THANKS!! lol We actually are in a path of tripling our net income for our household due to getting in on the ground floor with an awesome product line.

Just like FESCO we are a Notifier Distributer and I know a few guys from FESCO as well. We can't do any Sprinkler work but we work with Brown, Landmark and a few other Sprinkler Contractors around here. Naturally we interface with Pre-action, Wet, Dry and Deluge Systems.
Yeah driving around UK can be dangerous cause it's hard to keep your eyes on the road!
Hey, you might ruin your reputation being seen with me drinking a beer! LOL.
    Tight Lines...
