Smile DNR Where to Fish Finder

    Hey guys & gals ,
Check out the new DNR web site http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/12816.htm it shows just about every public fishing hole in Indiana . Ive been fishing IN all my life but I found a couple of spots I had no idea were there . Its very easy to use and gives a short description of the spot when you click on it .

that's a good looking site. I have been having a hard time finding places to fish around my area and also looking for places to use my new float tube.

I know what you mean. We practically have to make our own maps of most of the lakes here.

There are ways to make your own topo map. I know guys that do this using depth and location data and an engineering program. Probably using auto-cad or an topo map making add-on for Auto-cad.

Using a data logger, gps, and depth finder all sending NEMA singles to the data logger. They probably are using a Excel type data sheet to manage the data flow into the engineering program

When I took my physical geology class at USI we learned to manually make top maps by drawing contour lines through data points that represented ground heights. But the same can be done for hyrographic data.

What we need in Southern Indiana is a Pat Hahs.
