    Re: Good Questions for Obama

P.S. In my post above, I meant to say that the President was only paid $400,000.00 a year, not $400.00.

zx150, I agree that the pay scales in many arieas are lobsided and another indication why this country is swiftly sliding into oblivian. The comparisons between the USA and "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" are amazing.

"There is something drastically wrong with a country and its citizens that only pays its President $400.00 per year and its Legislators $187,000.00 (and then complains that they are overpaid) wile it pays college basketball coaches millions of dollars per year. AND, we wonder why this country is in trouble? I think someone once said something about "You get what you pay for!!"

    Grumpy
    Would you not concede that
"And that reducing ExxonMobil's profits will injure people who participate in mutual funds, index funds and pension funds that own 52 percent of the company"Cause if these coaches don't coach the kids won't go to that college and the trickle down will cause teachers/janitors to get laid off and they won't be buying anything at the local walmarts which will cause them to make less money which wil etc etc. etc

stratosjoes, first off, I didn't say that they should stop paying the couches the millions, I meant that the President and Leglislators should be paid more. The intent of my statement was that the values of this country are totally screwed up when we put a higher value on people that are teaching a game than we value our President and Legislators.

I won't even bother addressing the rest of your fallacious statement, except to say that if you are correct and our whole economy rests on whether college kids can play basketball, its just another sign of how totally screw up this country is.

    Stratosjoe,
Take that logic of penalizing the coaches and your trickledown ill effects that you brought up on the people of this country and change that to oil companies or any company that makes a huge profit.

What will happen there? Could it be that the company that you have just penalized raises taxes? Could it be that they can't afford to supply the benefits to the employees? Who suffers there? It aint the oil companies because they will pass the increase on to us. Why make a profit if the government takes a chunk of it and gives it to low income families?

Do you love working overtime and then giving almost half of it back in taxes? Well you do if you work too much overtime. You say gobama but I don't understand why? Is it in protest of GW? He's out, not running again so that can't be it. Do you just like Barry's speeches? Throw some info my way man because I seriously would like to know. It's your choice and I do respect that but I'm just asking. Please don't say it's because GW and the GOP has ruined everything....that reason has been tossed around way too much. Lets get some facts on proposed policy of Barry. Lets look forward not backward. hagd

I will say they pay Pitino or or Billy G. a lot of money but they do bring the schools a lot of cash as well. If a schools goes to a BCS bowl game the school gets an obscene about of cash. So you have to have good coaches to run the programs.

But, good reach teachers and excellent students also bring in an obscene amount of cash and the teachers on not compensated nearly as well.

If you are a good teacher in the classroom you don't get a bonus. They generally give you more kids to teach (and that is at any level). Why not put teachers and education first and sports second instead of sports then education.

The commercials are correct most all of the athletes will be going pro in something other than sports.

I would like to be able to throw you some facts, unfornutely I don't have any. But I don't feel bad cause I really don't know that anything you or anyone else posts is true as well. I would like to see a rollover of all the career politicians get some new thieves in there, you know spread the nepotism around a little. I have been fortunate to make a good living and I am not opposed to sharing some of it with those less fortunate. I have seen too many major businesses in my area close the doors due to cheaper mfg costs overseas, the folks that lost their jobs are not the ones that are seeing an increase in their stock prices or mutual funds. They can't find work so they get help, then the haves raise hell because they are receiving free whatever. A person in control making the bucks is not going to close the doors to imports, or tax major corporations who go out of the country. Greed has ,is and always will be the deciding factor for much the major decisions made today. Here comes someone that says lets change some of this type of business Then no matter what he says he's full of it and he can't do it well I am willing to let him try. I don't know if it will help the country to get him in but I do feel as is my right that the way the country has been ran the last eight years has favored big business. The trickle down has trickled out, folks who have worked hard all their lifes are now facing food or heat or medicine what will it be this week. We can spend billions of dollars rebuilding an Iraq infrastructure that was crap before we got there and will return to crap when we leave. I voted Republican years ago but not the last two elections. I don't have the answers but in my defense there two ways to vote. Continue the same way we are going or run the risk of trying something new, I choose CHANGE and I am willing to accept the fact that if I am wrong I at least tried to do something.

I respect that because all we can do is figure this mess out ourselves and vote for the person who says the right thing while running for President. I don't like "change" just because it's "change". McCain isn't the same old thing as Bush and the Dems will paint him that way because it works against McCain. Heck, he might even get a Dem V.P. to run with him! He has been a maverick and or a thorn in the side for the GOP for years. He was crossing party lines long before Barry came on the scene.
Alot of what I have posted about Barry is from his site or CNN or FOX so at some point you have to have faith and believe some of it especially if you want to be an informed voter. JMO

    Andrew,
I watched a show that was giving a short history of him and in his college years he was called Barry before he embraced his given name.
