I'm a firm believer that large baits = large fish. All of my bass over 6lbs have come off live bluegill in the 5-6" range. One of my hot spots I "chum" the water with bread and schools of bluegill come up. I catch one throw it on a 5/0 circle hook, continue chumming and wait for a bass come by. Im convinced that since this pond has ducks and people often feed them bread, the bluegill have learned to eat the bread, and the bass are soon to follow to eat the gills!
One time I was catching bait with roostertails and had a little crappie on when a big bass came up and ate it and got stuck on the hook. My 4lb line broke. I caught the same bass later that evening on a large bluegill and he still had my roostertail!
